Alright, it’s week 2 and here I am in my new uniform. I feel (and I think, look), like I’m wearing a halloween costume, but I’m sure it will feel more natural soon, and I do confess, it was with no small measure of pride that I put my belt on for the first time.
This week was easier than last week was – we did some more kicking, blocking and punches, but, in keeping with SES’s method of making sure everyone is helped at their own level, I was encouraged to stick with practicing the basics while the others did more advanced work. It’s only been 2 weeks, but I’m already feeling an improvement – I now make a tapping noise when I kick the punching bag, which was an encouraging sound after last week’s silence, and again, both the teachers and other students were so encouraging.
What I’ve learnt this week :
While I’m still finding coordinating arms & legs together to be a challenge, I’ve realised that, counter-intuitive as it might sound, the more I think about it, the worse it gets. So my lesson for this week was don’t think too much, just do! 🙂
